Psychological / emotional perspective: Corruption denotes a tainting or spoiling, particularly of our integrity, so any such image signifies something which is imperfect or has been made so by a negative influence.
[1]Material aspects: An article which is decaying or corrupted is now no longer useful so from a mundane perspective we may need to look at aspects of our lives which have outlived their usefulness.
